Support

Email dbromberg1@gmail.com — a real person reads it, usually within a few business days.

Writing in about a bug? Tell us your iPhone model, your iOS version, the Keto Cal version (Settings › About), and what you did right before it went wrong. That turns a two-week guessing game into a same-day fix.

Subscriptions

How do I cancel?

On your iPhone: Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions › Keto Cal › Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before your trial or renewal date, or you'll be charged for the next period. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

I was charged after my trial — can I get a refund?

Apple handles all billing for App Store purchases, so refunds go through Apple, not us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple ID you purchased on. Apple usually decides within 48 hours.

I paid but the app still shows the paywall

Open Settings in Keto Cal and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with. If it still doesn't unlock, email us and include the date of purchase.

I reinstalled / got a new iPhone

Your subscription restores with Restore purchases. Your food diary, though, is stored on the device — it does not transfer unless you restored the new phone from a backup of the old one.

Logging and accuracy

The photo scan got my meal wrong

Tap the entry and edit it. Every line is editable — you can change the portion, delete an ingredient it invented, add one it missed, or overwrite the carb numbers directly. The AI estimates from a picture; it can't weigh your plate. For packaged food, the barcode scanner is far more accurate.

A barcode isn't found, or the numbers look wrong

Barcode nutrition comes from Open Food Facts, a free public database maintained by volunteers. If a product is missing or wrong there, enter the numbers manually from the label and save it — and if you'd like, add the product on Open Food Facts so the next person finds it.

Why don't my net carbs match the label?

Net carbs = total carbohydrates − fiber − sugar alcohols. US labels list total carbs; many European labels already exclude fiber, which makes their carb line closer to net. Keto Cal shows all three numbers so you can always check the arithmetic. If you prefer to count only half of sugar alcohols, there's a setting for that.

I've used up my 3 free scans

Manual logging, staples and barcode entry stay unlimited on the free tier, and the ring keeps working. Unlimited photo scanning needs a subscription.

Features

Apple Health isn't syncing

Turn it on in Keto Cal under Settings › Apple Health, then check permissions in the Health app › Sharing › Apps › Keto Cal. iOS never tells an app whether read access was granted, so if weight isn't appearing, that's the first place to look. Keto Cal writes one aggregate entry per nutrient per day, not one per meal.

Is the ketosis estimate real?

It's an inference from your log — three days under your net-carb line suggests you're likely in ketosis, and a day at twice your line suggests you may have dropped out. It does not measure ketones. Only a blood, breath or urine test does that.

Reminders aren't appearing

Check iOS Settings › Notifications › Keto Cal and make sure notifications are allowed. All Keto Cal reminders are scheduled locally on your device — we don't run a push server.

Why did my weight drop so fast in week one?

Mostly water. Glycogen holds roughly three grams of water per gram, and it depletes quickly when carbs drop. The app's projection models that first-week drop on purpose so the plateau afterwards doesn't look like failure.

Privacy and data

How do I delete my data?

It's all on your phone. Delete individual entries in the app, use Settings › Reset data to clear everything, or delete the app to remove all of it. We hold no copy — see the privacy policy.

Do you store my meal photos?

No. A photo is analysed and discarded — never written to storage, never linked to you, never used for training.
